Welcome Back!

Welcome to our new Kindergarten students and students new to our school. We are very happy you joined our Sunalta family and look forward to getting to know you.

Teachers returned to school today, and have been spending time engaged in professional learning, school start up activities, and ensuring the classrooms are ready for the return of students on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

On the afternoon of Friday, August 29, 2025, at 2:00pm you will receive an email from your child’s class teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This email will introduce the teacher, provide you with first day instructions for drop off and pick up, and let you know what they will need to bring with them. I am sure you can appreciate how busy the main school office is at this time, so please wait to receive this email before contacting the school for new teacher information. Thank you.

I would also ask you to be mindful about the thought and care that goes into placing your children in their classes for the 2025/26 school year. Towards the end of last school year, teachers spent a lot of time creating balanced classes for each grade and class. Careful thought goes into making sure they are placed with a few great learning partners in a classroom environment that will help them reach their full potential. Thanks for trusting us, as educational professionals, to place your children in the best classroom for the 2025/26 school year.

Welcome Back Coffee:

The School Council are inviting you to stick around after dropping off your child on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, to join them for coffee and conversation. They would love to answer any questions you might have about the role of the School Council and would be happy to receive some feedback about Fun Lunches, School Council events and fundraising. It would be great to see you for a catch up and maybe even sign you up for volunteer opportunities.

Food for Celebrations:

We love celebrating birthdays and special occasions with our students! To keep everyone safe and to follow school board administrative regulations, we kindly ask that food items or ‘loot bags’ not be brought to school for birthdays or other special events.

This CBE policy helps us:

  • Protect students with food allergies and sensitivities.
  • Ensure fairness and inclusivity for all children.
  • Stay aligned with school board guidelines.

We will continue to celebrate students in a fun and age-appropriate manner within the classes and school. Thank you for supporting a safe and inclusive environment for all our students.

Safe Drop-Off and Pick-Up Reminder

As we begin a new school year, we want to remind everyone about the importance of safe and respectful driving during student drop-off and pick-up times. Our top priority is keeping students safe, and we appreciate your cooperation in following the rules of the road and school procedures.

A few key reminders:

  • Please drive slowly and remain alert in school zones.
  • Always use designated drop-off and pick-up areas.
  • Do not stop in crosswalks or bus lanes.
  • Remind your child to enter and exit vehicles on the sidewalk side.
  • Be patient—safety comes before convenience.

Thank you for helping us create a safe environment for all students. Together, we can ensure smooth and secure drop-off and pick-up each day.

We hope you have a wonderful last week of the summer holidays. If you need to reach us in the office, please phone 403-777-8590 between 8:00am-4:00pm. If you need to contact me directly, please call the school office or you can send an email to me at hjwright@cbe.ab.ca

Warm regards
