Sunalta School Council
Parents and school staff met on Wednesday as part of our regular monthly meeting. Grade 2 teachers shared a slide show about oral story-telling using Ozobots (robots) about a favourite fairy tale. They explained how the new grade 2 curriculum, including science, is woven into projects in a meaningful and memorable way. Council discussed some events that will be happening for the last quarter of the school year. We thank them all the time for funding all of our field trips, residencies, art supplies, technology and so much more. They currently have a plant fundraiser for families to purchase if interested. Thank you to our council chair, Stacey Selley, for all of her hard work in organizing the What’s App and coordinating all of the council responsibilities. She is amazing!!

Spring Concert
Division 2 students as well as our Grades 1-3 Djembe drumming club will be performing on Thursday, May 9 in the gym at 6:30pm. Students will receive 2 tickets for family to come and watch the presentation. We intend to record the event. Mr Barker has created three new murals for the spring event and everyone has been painting them with bright, inspiring colours. Our music teacher, Ms Irwin is very excited to prepare the students and will be sharing more information soon.
Volunteer Tea
All adults that have volunteered this year, in any capacity, are invited to our Sunalta Volunteer Tea on Thursday, May 30 at 2pm in the gym. We want to pamper and treat our volunteers to some entertainment, tasty nibblies, and a gift in honour of their efforts. Our school would not be the exceptional place it is without a community of caring volunteers and our students love you!
Earth Day
Monday is Earth Day! As we work to heal the earth, the earth heals us…from the book Braiding Sweetgrass. Students and staff have plans to celebrate this special day and will be sharing their commitments and learning.
