It’s been another exciting week at Sunalta School, and we’re thrilled to share all the happenings with our community.
Celebrating Black History Month
We are proud to celebrate Black History Month throughout February, honoring the achievements, contributions, and rich culture of Black Canadians and people of African descent. Black History Month offers an opportunity to celebrate the diversity and achievements of Black Canadians, while also reflecting on the country's painful history and the ongoing challenges Black Canadians face. Here at CBE, student voice is central to how we see, feel, and learn about Black History in our schools and beyond.
Mount Pleasant Art Residency
Our Mount Pleasant Art Residency continues to inspire creativity! Students have been working with local artists on unique projects, exploring different mediums, and learning new artistic techniques. The residency fosters artistic expression and gives our students a deeper understanding of the creative process. Thank you to Parent Council for supporting this wonderful community building opportunity.
Short Week Ahead & Family Day Long Weekend
Just a reminder that next week is a short week! There will be no school on Thursday and Friday, February 13 and 14, as teachers will be attending the Teachers' Convention. Looking ahead, don’t forget that Family Day is on Monday, February 17. It’s a great time to spend quality moments with family, relax, and recharge. Enjoy the long weekend!
Curling in the Gym
Our students have been having a blast curling in the gym! As part of our physical education curriculum, they’re learning the fundamentals of this unique sport. From sliding stones to sweeping, they’ve been developing teamwork and coordination skills.
Kindergarten – Mad Science Presentation
Our Kindergarten students had a fantastic time with the Mad Science presentation! They got hands-on with fun experiments that sparked their curiosity about the wonders of science. It was an engaging and educational experience that brought science to life in a fun, interactive way.
Parent Council Meeting – February 12
Our next Parent Council meeting will be next Wednesday, February 12, at 6:30 PM. All parents are invited to join and participate in discussions about school events, initiatives, and ways to support our students. Our Grade 1 team, will be sharing experiences from their classrooms. We hope to see you there!
