Kindness Assembly

Our grade 1 students (60 kids) presented an incredibly kind and thoughtful assembly today. The messages of how to be kind and take care of each other was inspiring. There was a skit about wearing socks to school, a video about A little spot of love, and students reading their own messages of what kindness means to them. Students sang a song about saying Hello and many brave students shared hello in their first language. It was a celebration of diversity and how a simple ‘Hello’ can brighten someone’s day. Audience members were amazed to hear languages around the world. Thanks and gratitude to the teachers (Ms. Eakins, Ms. Irwin, Ms. Korpesio, and Mr. Mitchell) for all of their work preparing the students. Each child had the opportunity to shine! A special love tree mural was created with students writing LOVE in their first language. It was a heart-warming assembly!

Mount Pleasant Art Residency

Our art residency has been exceptionally creative and interesting with the opportunity to learn from real artists! Classes had experiences learning how to weave with a variety of textiles, watercolour techniques, print making and sketching/portrait techniques. The true learning was discovering the process of using your imagination and honouring the love of creating art. During our March student learning conferences there will be a gallery to share all of the products.

School Planning Engagement Survey

Each year families of Sunalta School are asked to share their thoughts regarding our school development plan and budget. Please consider completing our survey to provide parent input. We value your thoughts and feedback. The survey will be open until spring break.

Next Year School Intentions

All students in grades k-5 received a yellow slip asking if they will be returning to Sunalta next year as we are beginning to plan our classroom configurations and staffing for the 2025-2026 school year. If you have not received a yellow slip, please email the office sunalta@cbe.ab.ca

Dressing for the Weather

Thank you for sending your child(ren) dressed appropriately for the weather. During our cold snap, students stayed inside for recesses. They did have fun playing various games and having a chance to use the gym over lunch time.

A friendly reminder that supervision begins at 8:30am and doors open at 8:38am. Please time your drop-off accordingly. As well, we have been averaging 25-30 students that are late each day. When they enter the class, instruction has already started, and they miss the information (and often have an uncomfortable feeling when they are late). Families are able to check student attendance through PowerSchool. If your child is late or absent more than 7% of the time, this is considered a chronic concern.
