We hope everyone had a wonderful Family Day long weekend full of making happy memories and sharing in laughter together. Our teachers returned from Teachers’ Convention inspired and ready to share their new learning with their students. Coupled with our gratitude for warmer weather having returned, February has been a month with much to celebrate at Sunalta School.

We’ve had an exciting and educational week! Here’s a quick recap of some wonderful experiences our students have had:

• Grade 4 Dinosaur Adventure: Our Grade 4 students had an amazing overnight trip to the Drumheller Museum, where they explored the fascinating world of dinosaurs and learned about the history of the Badlands. This trip gave students a hands-on opportunity to discover the ancient past and deepen their understanding of prehistoric life! Thank you so much to the parent volunteers who supported this trip and Parent Council for their ongoing generosity funding this learning opportunity.

• Grade 3 at Bow Habitat Station: The Grade 3 class had a fantastic field trip to Bow Habitat Station, where they learned about the lifecycle of trout and their role in the ecosystem. Students enjoyed hands-on learning about these incredible creatures and the importance of environmental conservation. Being able to connect their learning to our rainbow trout at school, as part of the Fish in Schools Program, helped these concepts come alive, o-FISH-ally!

• Pink Shirt Day – February 26: Pink Shirt Day is just around the corner on February 26! This day is dedicated to promoting kindness, empathy, and standing against bullying. We encourage everyone to wear pink in support of this important cause and help spread awareness of the power of kindness.

• 100th Day of School: Our students celebrated a huge milestone – the 100th day of school! From creative projects to fun classroom activities, it was a day full of excitement and a reminder of how much our students have accomplished so far this year.
