2025 Family Literacy Week Let’s Be Green – Together! This is your friendly reminder that Monday, January 27, is Family Literacy Day—a day where books, buddies, and a little bit of adventure collide! Our Leadership Club has been dreaming big (think bookish revolution-level big) and has now finalized the plan.

Bring Your Book!

Here’s the scoop: On Monday, students - please bring your absolute favorite book—the one that makes your heart sing, your brain light up, or your soul cry a little. You’ll meet with your buddy class at a time of your choosing to share your book magic. Maybe it’s in a language other than English!

The choice is yours, but let’s embrace this opportunity to celebrate reading and all the wild, wonderful places it can take us. Happy adventuring—both on the page and off!

Lunar New Year

Celebrating the Year of the Snake

Lunar New Year takes place on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025. Many families at Sunalta celebrate this exciting week. Well wishes of energy, vitality, prosperity and harmony!

Alien In-Line

There is one more day of Alien In-Line on Monday, Jan. 27. Rooms 1, K-am, 19, 11, and 12 are welcome to bring their helmets. Any parents that can volunteer, please let your child’s teacher know by email.

Report Cards

Report cards will be available through the MyCBE portal (online) on Jan. 27. Report card grades are used to formally communicate student achievement of learning outcomes to parents/guardians and students.  On the Kindergarten to Grade 9 report card, students receive achievement indicators from 1 (Not Meeting) to 4 (Excellent) on each outcome in a course. These indicators summarize student achievement of the learner outcomes of the Alberta Education New Curriculum/Programs of Study. Reporting requires teachers to summarize the learning that has taken place over the course of the reporting period.  Families are always encouraged to contact the school with questions about student learning. The best sources of information about progress and achievement are your child, your child’s teacher and the school principal.
