Updates
There are lots of exciting opportunities and events happening at Sunalta School. Thanks and gratitude to all the parents that joined us for our first council meeting of the year on Tuesday evening. Grade 4 teachers shared student projects and links to the new Science curriculum and the admin team discussed our new school development plan. Our council has planned a school family dance for next week, a scholastic book fair in November, and will be sharing a Sunalta School council package next week. We are fortunate to have an engaged and energetic community of parents this year!
Sports League
Mr. Barker has started the grade 5 and 6 Sports League for the year. 63 students that signed up will be playing on a team Thursdays at lunch. Thank you to Mr. Barker for offering his time for this great club!
Grade 1 Field Trip and Olive the Owl: Our grade 1 students had a visit from a Great Horned Owl named Olive and her handler, Erin Young, Education Coordinator from the Medicine River Wildlife Centre

Grade 1s also went to the Calgary Farmyard on Thursday to explore and connect with their science curriculum. Thanks and gratitude to our council for funding this field trip!
Pumpkinella
It’s time for Pumpkinella! Families are encouraged to carve a pumpkin at home and bring it to school on October 30. It’s fun for students to see all the creative carvings and be part of the fall season. Pumpkins will need to be dropped off in the morning and picked up at the end of the day. Photos will be shared during our whole school assembly on October 31 at 9:15am. Students are welcome to wear a costume for the assembly and grade 3 students will be presenting!

Hello Sunalta Families!
We’re having a family dance in the Sunalta School Gym on Thursday, October 24! It’s a fancy dress up dance (not a Halloween Dance - we’ll save the costumes for Pumpkinella on Halloween Day), so pick your favourite outfit and get ready to boogie - your kids will be curating the music playlist!
We are having a Healthy Hunger dinner from Subway so if you want to order food to be delivered to the school for your whole family, please place your order here: www.healthyhunger.ca. Dinner will be served anytime, starting at 5:30 pm. We will distribute your food orders from the lower level art room and you’ll be able to eat in the lower gym.
The dance runs from 6:00-8:00 pm. We will have a concession available with chips, candy, juice, water and glowsticks. We accept cash and credit.
Please consider signing up for a volunteer shift.
Lastly, confirm your attendance.
Can’t wait to see everyone on the dance floor!!
