We’ve had a wonderful week of learning here at Sunalta School. Our first Crazy Hair Day was a success with lots of fun hairstyles and creativity!
The annual Terry Fox Run was a rainy day, however, we gathered for a pep rally in the gym to kick off a 15 minute indoor sprint. Thank you to Ms Macdonald and her Grade 4 class for organizing and advertising the assembly as well as our MCs (Cecilia, Cole and Spencer) and the Grade 6 Pace Bunnies. Our new mascot Sundrop also made an appearance. Thanks and gratitude to Davis’s mom for making our mascot costume! There is still time to send in money for our Terry Fox Campaign or donate online. Sunalta is a gracious community!
Thanks and gratitude to our volunteers! You made our Healthy Hunger lunch run smoothly and our Terry Fox run lots of fun!!
Open House
We are looking forward to meeting families on Thursday evening for a tour of the school and time meeting teachers. Parents will be able to listen to their child’s teacher share an overview of the classroom and what to expect for the year. Sign up will be through PowerSchool for a time. Please choose 6:00 or 6:30 PM.
Education Matters
Public education is a shared responsibility to support student success. EducationMatters is a charitable trust inspiring and facilitating investment from the community to enhance equity and alleviate barriers for CBE students. Sunalta received $250.00 from Ed Matters to purchase new resources for classrooms.
Noon Hour Lunchroom Supervision Registration and Fee
Students that stay at school for lunch must be registered for Lunchroom Supervision. Please sign in to your MyCBE account to register your child for this service.
While you will register now for Noon Hour Lunchroom Supervision, the fees for this service will not be requested until October. The Lunchroom Supervision fee applies to all students in grades K through 6 who stay at school for lunch. Please call the office if you require assistance with registration or if you have any questions.
Waivers
No child is ever denied access to an education in the CBE because of an inability to pay. The CBE has a waiver process for families who can’t afford to pay the fees. Visit our Waivers page for more information and the documents required as proof of income or extraordinary circumstance.
Any family needing a waiver is encouraged to apply to the City of Calgary Fair Entry Program to prove income for a CBE waiver, as well as access other benefits of the program. This is optional for families and the CBE will continue to accept other approved documents as proof of income.
Note - Waiver applications are available through your MyCBE account.
