Earth Day Activities – Wednesday, April 22
Next week, our Grade 5 students will help kick things off with special announcements to celebrate Earth Day. On Wednesday, April 22, they are inviting classes to take part in any of the following activities:
- Walk or wheel to school, if you live close enough
- Pack a waste‑free lunch
- Wear green and blue to show your Earth Day spirit
- Work toward completing your Earth Day Bingo Card
- Earth Day Scavenger Hunt: Watch for Earth Day signs hidden around the schoolyard and playground. Each sign includes an Earth Day fact and a riddle to solve. Signs will be posted between 12:45–1:00 PM, and classes are welcome to participate throughout the afternoon.
We’re looking forward to a fun day of learning and celebrating our planet together!
Spring Concert 2026! (Grades 4-6)
We are excited to invite you to Sunalta School’s 2nd Annual Spring Celebration, showcasing performances by our Division II students. Please note that each student may invite up to two family members to attend the evening performance, as seating is limited.
For those unable to attend—or who wish to share the experience—we will be professionally recording the performance, and the video will be made available afterward so it can be shared with family and friends. We look forward to celebrating our students with you!
Healthy Hunger – Important Reminder
Please note that we are unable to store Healthy Hunger food overnight. If your child is away on a Healthy Hunger Fun Lunch Day, you are more than welcome to call the school to arrange a time to stop by and pick up the lunch for them.
If we do not hear from you, the food will be kept in the fridge during the school day; however, any unclaimed items will be thrown away or composted at the end of the day.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Non-Instructional Day – Friday, April 24
Please note that Friday, April 24 is a non-instructional day. There will be no school for students on this day.
Teachers will be learning off site as they participate in Maatoomsii’Pookaiks – Children First, a Calgary Board of Education professional learning day. During this time, staff will be revisiting the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and deepening their understanding of “Belonging Through the Land: Reconnecting Community,” in the spirit of TRC Call to Action 63.3.
Thank you for your continued support as we engage in meaningful learning that strengthens our community and supports reconciliation.
