Help Us Restock Our Spare Clothing Supplies
Accidents happen, and we like to be prepared! We are currently looking to restock our supply of spare clothing for students who may need a change of clothes during the school day. If your child has outgrown any pants, leggings, joggers, or shorts that are still in good condition, we would greatly appreciate your donation. While we always have new underwear available for students when needed, we are often in need of extra clothing items to send students back to class feeling comfortable and confident. Donations can be sent to the school office at any time. Thank you for helping us care for all our students and for supporting our school community!
Orange Shirt Day
On Orange Shirt Day, September 29 at Sunalta School, we encourage all students and staff to wear orange as a symbol of remembrance and respect for the survivors of residential schools, their families, and Indigenous communities.
Orange Shirt Day reminds us of the importance of truth, reconciliation, and the message that Every Child Matters. Throughout the week, students will participate in a variety of age-appropriate learning activities designed to help them better understand the experiences of Indigenous Peoples, the legacy of residential schools, and the importance of creating a community where everyone feels valued, safe, and respected. By wearing orange, we honour the strength and resilience of survivors and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every child is seen, heard, and supported. Please join us in wearing orange on September 29 as we come together to recognize that Every Child Matters. 🧡
Terry Fox Run 2026
Mark your calendars! Our Terry Fox Run is happening on Friday, October 2, 2026, and we'd love for our families to join us!
Come cheer on your child, walk alongside them, or even run the route together. We'll kick off the day with a Terry Fox Assembly in the gym at 11:00 a.m., followed by our run beginning at 11:30 a.m.
🏃 Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2 students will be running laps around the school field.
🏃 Grade 3, 4, 5, and 6 students will take on a course through the Scarboro neighbourhood.
We also need plenty of helping hands! Volunteers are welcome to:
- Count laps
- Help with traffic safety
- Cheer on our runners
- Spread Terry Fox spirit!

Have You Ever Wondered What School Council Does?
School Council plays an important role in helping build a strong, connected school community, and we'd love you to learn more about the impact they make at Sunalta School. Join us for our first School Council meeting of the year on Tuesday, October 13 at 6:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to hear about upcoming initiatives, share your ideas, ask questions, and discover how you can support the wonderful work happening in our school. Whether you're a returning parent or new to Sunalta, everyone is welcome. Child minding will be available to help make it easier for families to attend. Come connect with other families, learn more about your school community, and see how you can make a difference. We hope to see you there!
