Dear families,

Thank you to all the families that were able to join our school council Minions Movie Night on Thursday. It was a tremendous success and a lot of fun! Thank you to Stacey S, Sarah D, Kersten, and all the volunteers that took care of the organization and clean up. We couldn’t do it without you!

A huge thank you to all of our parents that volunteered and/or contributed to the staff appreciation dinner at the community center Friday evening. It was a beautiful event with delicious food and incredible ambiance – so many special touches. We can’t thank you enough!

At school this week: (and thank you to council for funding all of these adventures!)

  • Students in Grade 2 went on a field trip to ‘The Confluence’ (formerly Fort Calgary) to learn about the beginning of Calgary. They took part in creating the city beginning with the river and the place now known as The Confluence. Again, thank you to our volunteers for joining.
  • Grade 4 students in Mr Castle’s class went on an adventure to Cochrane Ranch. They observed Great Horned Owls, a huge ‘Grandfather Tree’ and took time to connect learning about plants from the curriculum with the great outdoors. Later they travelled to Mitford Pond to release our 40 rainbow trout. A memorable day was had by all.

  • Students in grades 3-6 are enjoying outdoor tennis lessons and there are some tennis stars!
  • Our 36 grade 6 patrollers had a spectacular day at Heritage Park. This was a reward and recognition for their time, their leadership, and care to keep our students safe. Thanks and gratitude to Mr Masuch, Ms Hart and Mr Barker for supervising them every morning and afternoon.

Pancake Breakfast: 8:30am Wednesday June 12

Important Information! Sunalta will be hosting a pancake breakfast on Wednesday morning. We will also be honouring Ms Beeksma as she will be retiring at the end of the month. There will be enough food for approximately 750-1000 people!

Here is the procedure:

  • Students will come into the school at 8:30am and go to their classroom for attendance. Please help us to have them here on time
  • Teachers have planned for students to go outside to get their pancakes with their buddy class  ie: kindergarten with grade 5
  • After students have their food, they will sit with the grade group ie: all grade 2s sit together
  • Families may join the class outside if they wish
  • After they are finished, students will play on the playground (supervised) and then be called to come in around 9:30am (bell will sound)

Afternoon kindergarten students may come in the morning with their families.

Gluten free, dairy free pancakes will be available for those requiring this. Thank you to Kristi Nelson for offering to bake and deliver!

Thank you to those who have signed up to assist with this event. All of the extra hands makes an event possible. If you would still like to sign up to help Stampede Breakfast Volunteer Sign Up
