Welcome to winter! With the frigid temperatures, we have been thoroughly enjoying our time in the gym with Alien In-line skating. Thank you to volunteers for coming to assist our students this week and parent volunteer coordinator, Rizza.

This residency will continue next week. Our Sunalta School Council would like to invite families to join us for our annual family skate night on Thursday, January 18. Students must be accompanied by an adult to participate in the evening event. Equipment will be provided, however, you may bring your own helmet. Please enter by the parking lot doors at the time you select.

If you are interested in ordering pizza, you must place your order TODAY www.healthyhunger.ca and it will be delivered at 5:30pm to the school.

Grade 1 News

Our Grade 1 students had the opportunity to learn about PADS (Pacific Assistance Dog Society). We had 5 beautiful service dogs “in training” visit the school and demonstrate their ability to assist. One dog was able to pick things up and bring them to someone. Another dog was able to help someone get up off the floor. Each dog will have certain attributes that will make them a helper for a person with a disability and provide them with independence and wellness. Our grade 1s will be raising money to support the Pads program by doing chores and special tasks. Did you know it costs at least $1800/year to care for one of these dogs?
