Weekly Update Sept 11-15 | Meet the Teacher, Annual Forms, Volunteers, Toonies for Terry, First Assembly, Lost and Found, Healthy Hunger, Google Classroom, etc
Our Sunalta students were ready to be back to school this week. Beginning with an indoor day because of the air quality, students went right into healthy routines, playing with friends as well as new acquaintances, and settling in to the academic learning that happens every day. All of our amazing staff have prepared exquisite classroom environments and are looking forward to sharing them with you. Our Meet the Teacher event will provide the opportunity for you to see these beautiful spaces and all of the places your children experience at school.
This year we have designed a phrase to guide us in our work as well as come together with a school-wide connection. This year our phrase will be
Be Curious, Make Connections, Grow
We look forward to sharing updates about how this lives and grows in our school!
Annual Forms:
Please remember to complete your annual forms on PowerSchool including registering for lunchroom (new this year).
- Demographic Verification - 2023-24 – This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
- Citizenship Information Update - 2023-24 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
- Annual Authorization - 2023-24
Volunteers:
Every year we reach out to families to consider volunteering for many important events as well as in-school support. All adults must have a current police clearance in order to volunteer. Annual clearance renewals will be sent out next week for current volunteers. If you are not cleared, please consider beginning the process by dropping by the office to receive a letter to upload to Calgary Police Information Check (PIC).
Toonies for Terry:
We will have our annual Terry Fox Run on Friday, September 15 in the morning. Students are encouraged to bring toonies for Terry to donate to cancer research. We are also looking for volunteers and will send out a sign up next week.
First Assembly:
Grades 1-6 took part in their first assembly of the year. Patrols shared a safety message, Ms Irwin led the school song, and all of our staff and new students were introduced. A great way to start the year!
Lost and Found:
We will have a small lost and found on the top floor. Please label items and we will return them! Please feel free to come in and check if you are missing an item.
Healthy Hunger:
Twice a month we have fun lunch for students that ordered through Healthy Hunger. If you are interested, please log on to www.healthyhunger.ca
Google Classroom:
Teachers use Google Classroom to share updates, important dates and times, and information regarding learning. Currently we are assisting students in changing their passwords and learning how to log on. Teachers will send a message and ‘how to’ to families when they are ready.
