Dear families,

Thanks and gratitude to all that were able to come and visit Sunalta School last night as part of our annual Meet the Teacher evening. Staff enjoyed sharing important topics, routines, and how Google Classroom will be used to share information regarding your child’s learning. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have questions as it is important to us to have clear communication. A big thank you to our school council for providing dinner for staff. It was delicious!

This week Sunalta students will be recognizing Truth and Reconciliation with opportunities to learn about Call to Action #80

“A National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to honour Survivors, their families, and communities, and ensure that public commemoration of the history and legacy of residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process.” Students are encouraged to wear orange on Thursday as part of Orange Shirt Day https://orangeshirtday.org We hope our students will be able to add to their knowledge about “Every Child Matters” and recognize why we are not at school on Friday. If you are interested in participating in a TRC event, Fort Calgary, Telus Spark, and Arts Commons will have Indigenous opportunities for families to take part in recognition of Truth and Reconciliation.
