Our Sunalta staff are looking forward to welcoming all of our families for the 2024-2025 school year! We hope that you have had the most amazing of summers with moments of joy, as well as time to slow down and have fun. Whether you are a new family joining our Sunalta community or returning after the holiday, we hope everyone is feeling rejuvenated and ready to start the school year.

Welcome to our newest hire (over the summer), Ms. Allison Cook. Allison taught at Colonel Sanders last year and had been a substitute at Sunalta. She will be teaching grade 3 in Room 10. As well, Facility Operator Grace Wang has accepted a position at Glendale School. Maria Holandez will begin as our new Facility Operator on August 27. 

Students are likely awaiting news of their new classroom teacher and classmates. Teachers will be sending a welcoming school messenger email to their students and explaining the plan for the first few days.

Kindergarten has a staggered entry plan for the first days with Ms. Kangles and is as follows: Thursday, August 29

AM Class – Last name A – M – 8:40 – 10:00am

AM Class – End name N – Z – 10:20 – 11:40am PM Class – Last name A – M – 12:20 – 1:40pm PM Class – End name N – Z -1:55 – 3:15pm 

Friday, August 30

AM Class – 8:45am – 10:15am PM Class – 10:30am – 12:00pm 

Tuesday, September 3

AM Class – 8:40 – 10:40am PM Class – 12:20 – 2:20pm

If your family is new to Sunalta School, we are offering the opportunity to come to the school on Wednesday, August 28 from 1:30-2:30pm (entering at the parking lot doors). Students will be able to meet their teacher and classroom. This is only for families new to the school that have not had a tour of the school. Please email the office at sunalta@cbe.ab.ca to rsvp. 

Student care Sunalta continues to provide private, out of school care from 7am-6pm on school and professional learning days. To contact them for more information, please email sunalta@studentcarecalgary.com There is also a private preschool program that has leased space for over 20 years. If you are interested in a preschool program, please contact Jodi Durant at scarboropreschool@gmail.com

Our gracious school council will be on the playground (under the tent) welcoming everyone back to school with coffee for parents (and Kleenex if needed).
